Erasmus+ Accreditation (KA120-SCH)
The 47th Primary School of Heraklion was awarded the Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of School Education (KA120-SCH) in 2026 by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), the Greek National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme. The accreditation was granted within the framework of the 2025 European Call for Proposals and recognises the school’s long-term strategy for internationalisation and educational innovation.
The school’s proposal received a score of 92/100, reflecting the quality of its planning, the clarity of its objectives and the institution’s capacity to successfully implement a structured Erasmus Plan with long-term impact on the school community.
Erasmus accreditation provides the school with simplified access to funding for mobility activities (Key Action 1) until the end of the current Erasmus+ programming period (2027). This allows the school to apply annually for funding to support learning mobilities for teachers and students without the need to submit a completely new project proposal each time.
The school’s Erasmus Plan is based on two main strategic objectives.
The first objective focuses on strengthening teachers’ competences in STEAM methodologies, with the aim of improving the overall quality of teaching and learning. Through international training courses, collaboration with European schools and job-shadowing experiences, teachers will further develop student-centred, inquiry-based and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching. At the same time, the initiative supports the school’s goal of advancing its recognition within the STEM School Label framework.
The second objective aims to promote inclusion and equal participation for all students, reinforcing a strong sense of belonging within the school community. By integrating innovative pedagogical practices and international cooperation, the school seeks to reduce social and educational exclusion and to ensure that every learner has access to meaningful and engaging learning opportunities.
To achieve these goals, the school will organise staff mobility activities, including structured training courses and job-shadowing visits to European schools, as well as student mobility activities that strengthen intercultural understanding, collaboration and the European dimension of education.
Through the Erasmus+ Accreditation, the 47th Primary School of Heraklion aspires to further strengthen its role as a hub of educational innovation, offering a modern, creative and inclusive learning environment for all students.
